About the Town Clerk:
The Clerk is responsible for attending all meetings of the Town Board to maintain an official record of the proceedings. The Clerk is also responsible for providing fiscal and other services affecting all Town agencies. The position of Clerk collects town taxes: Collects water and sewer bills; issues dog, marriage and other NY State required licenses; and many more tasks which are statutorily defined. She also serves as the Registrar for the Town of Madrid.

Applications for Birth, Death, and Marriage Records, can be obtained by printing the application, completing all sections required, and returning it to the Madrid Town Clerk.  Each application must be received with a check or money in the amount of $10.00 for each certified copy or transcript requested.  A copy of picture ID of the applicant must also be received with each application.

Applications for community building rental can be printed, filled out and returned to the Town Clerk, with $100.00 deposit to reserve date. Please call to make sure requested date is available before submitting application.

HUNTING, FISHING, AND TRAPPING LICENSES are now available at the Town Clerk’s office.  Credit cards are not accepted at this time, cash, check, or money order are accepted for payment.


The Town of Madrid accepts cash, check, or money orders as payment for taxes.  Tax payments will be collected during regular office hours.  Taxes are only payable to the Town of Madrid through January 2nd-June 1st.  After this date, payments are submitted to the St. Lawrence County Treasurer’s Office.
